Why Pathology Reports Are Late: The Register, Not the Analyser

A handwritten vial, a result typed twice, and a patient sent back for paper

Pathology reports are late when the sample is labelled by hand and the result is typed again from the analyser tape. The patient comes back because the report exists only as paper. Lab software prints a barcode at registration, stores the result once, and can send the authorised report on WhatsApp or email.

Who feels this first

Collection counters, lab technicians, and the pathologist who is asked to sign a stack at the end of the day. Labs with collection centres feel it twice: the centre says the sample was sent, and the processing lab does not have it on the same list.

The challenge

1. Similar names on the same batch

A smudged handwritten label is how the wrong test is run. The patient may never know. The lab knows when a value is impossible and someone checks.

2. The tape is typed into a report

That copy is where digits move. A critical value sits on the tape until someone has time to type the Word file.

3. The patient must visit again

The report is a printout at the counter. Calls and “send someone” fill the afternoon.

4. Two registers for one sample

Collection centres and the main lab each keep a book. Status is a phone call.

What teams try before they call

Pre-printed labels without a system behind them. The label looks neat and still is not tied to a registration number the lab can scan.

How it gets solved

Registration prints the barcode. That number is the worklist, the result and the report. The pathologist authorises. The patient can receive it on the phone. The lab can still print.

An analyser connection is optional and later. Go-live does not wait for a cable. A unique instrument interface, if you need one that is not already covered, is custom work.

Read the product in detail: Pathology Laboratory Software.

When the ready screens need a change, that work is custom software.

The same situation, written as an operating story: lab report case.

Where this is searched

Diagnostic centres in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Bihar and other states. A hospital lab that also needs OPD billing should look at hospital software for the bill and this product for the sample.

How a first setup runs

  • List the tests and the report format doctors already expect.
  • One counter prints barcodes. The lab works that list beside the old register until the batch matches.
  • Turn on authorisation and the patient message.
  • Add collection centres after the main lab trusts the status.
  • Questions buyers ask

Does software make a lab NABL accredited?

No. Accreditation is awarded to the lab. The software keeps the trace: who collected, what was resulted, who authorised.

    Can reports go on WhatsApp?

Yes, after authorisation. Email is the same step. Printing remains available.

Must the analyser be connected on day one?

No. Manual result entry is a valid first release.

    Ask for a walkthrough

Call +91 8271932791 or email info@ssbconsultancy.com. You can also book a demo. Say the city, the number of users, and whether you want the flat 30% discount on the software price. The quote is written. The demo is on the flow that is breaking, not a generic tour.
