Cloud is not a destination. It is a way to keep a system available when the office power, disk or internet fails. Moving everything at once is how bills surprise people.
The accounts PC is the server. Power cuts in Ranchi are normal. A disk failure is not theoretical. The cloud conversation usually starts the week after a scare, and the temptation is to move every file immediately.
We pick the system that hurts most if it disappears. We estimate the monthly cost before you are billed by a provider you have never logged into. The office copy stays until a normal working week has succeeded on the new one.
Access is part of the move. A shared password in a WhatsApp group is not an identity. The people who should sign in are named.
The thing you cannot afford to lose
Monthly cost is estimated before the move
The people who need it can sign in, and others cannot
The old copy stays until the new one is trusted
The only copy of the work sits on one office machine.
A cloud bill arrives for resources nobody remembers turning on.
Everyone uses one login, so a person who left still has access.
The move happens in a night and Monday’s work has nowhere to go when it fails.
Files that must stay in the office for a process reason are uploaded anyway.
We name the first system and leave the rest until that one is boring.
The expected monthly cost is in the quote. Surprise resources are not part of a quiet setup.
Named users sign in as themselves. Leavers can be removed.
The old system stays available through the first real week.
What should not leave the office is written down and stays there.
Accounts, the app, or the files. One of them is first.
A monthly estimate at the size you are, not the size a provider hopes you become.
You work on the new copy. The old one is the fallback.
If the week was dull, the old copy can retire. Access is reviewed.
The one that fits the system and the bill. We do not have a single vendor we force. The quote names it.
Not automatically. A move can make a poorly built app slower. We are moving availability and copies first. Speed problems are a separate look at the application.
Yes. Hosting is still described as hosting, with its own cost, even when we wrote the software.
What the system is, who uses it, and what a day of downtime costs you. That last answer decides how careful the cutover is.

The machine is on. Updates, backups and who can log in were left at the defaults. Server setup includes the restore and the access list.

Wi-Fi, the printer, the CCTV and the server password all live with one vendor who does not pick up. Infrastructure setup leaves you a map and a login you control.

A printer, a mail failure, a PC that is slow. Support is a way to report them that does not depend on remembering one engineer’s number.
